Admission committees during the course of study - 4th years (DNSEP - Grade Master) - SESSION SEPTEMBER 2026
This registration form is for candidates wishing to enrol at ésam Caen/Cherbourg (Caen campus) for the 2026-2027 academic year, either:
- in the 4th year of the Master's programme with a major in ART, specialising in Creation in Digital Environment / Master CEN (offered as a work-study programme in Master 2/5th year).
It must be completed by 30 August 2026 at 11:59 p.m. at the latest.
Candidates selected following the pre-selection process based on their portfolio and statement of intent will participate in a 20-minutes video conference interview with a panel of teachers, on Thursday 3d.

Given the specific nature of an art and design school curriculum, particular attention will be paid to applications from candidates who have previously completed training related to the creative arts. Before beginning the registration process, applicants must prepare the documents listed below, which must be downloaded in .pdf format .jpeg .jpg format in the online form (documents sent directly by email to the admissions office will not be considered) :
- Valid identity document (front and back);
- High school transcript or high school diploma or D.A.E.U. or a Level IV diploma or an equivalent qualification for foreign applicants;
- Transcripts from post-baccalaureate studies proving that you have obtained sufficient credits to enrol in the desired programme at ésam Caen/Cherbourg (180 ECTS credits to enrol in the 4th year, 240 ECTS credits to enrol in the 5th year);
- A statement of intent in French (or in English for the DNSEP Art CEN), explaining your reasons for wishing to enrol at ésam and presenting your artistic ideas for the 2nd cycle;
- A curriculum vitae;
- An artistic portfolio presenting, through text and images, a selection of your work. Please note that you may include links to hosting sites (to view a video, listen to audio, access a digital production, etc.), but please do NOT send download links, as these will not be viewed. The aim is to select a selection of works to be presented, so please do not simply send links to a social media account or artist's website.
Your portfolio (compiled in a single .pdf document, maximum 20 MB, limited to 25 pages, named SURNAME_First name_Portfolio) should consist of:
- a general presentation of your approach (maximum 1 page);
- a selection of at least 8 personal works in the field of contemporary visual arts or design (depending on the option chosen);
- brief comments on each piece of work;
- the application must also include a short statement outlining the applicant's career plans.
This application will be presented to the admissions committee, which will assess the coherence of the overall project and the applicant's ability to summarise it. The members of the committee will pay particular attention to the candidate's commitment to personal and original creation, their knowledge of art or design history (depending on the option chosen) and their perception and interpretation of contemporary issues. The jury will seek to assess the candidate's motivation and ability to engage in a practical and theoretical project.
- For foreign candidates from non-French-speaking countries: a certificate of French language proficiency (DELF or TCF level B2 minimum or a sworn statement of proficiency in French at level B2) - Optional for the Master CEN's applications.
- For candidates with disabilities: a medical certificate recommending adjustments for the interview with the jury (e.g. an additional third of the time).
